Colombia is a country in South America. It has great beaches. I loved spending time there. There were so many cool things to see and we made a lot of friends..

                                                          SOUTHERN COLOMBIA

LARGE SEE SAW
We stayed by this lake which had a fun kids playground with pull sleds and this cool see saw. My Mum and I used the see saw as a boat in our game of pirates. In the morning I got to see cows being milked.

                                                        STRANGE THINGS WE SAW

In one town we drove through we saw this ant statue in the window of a building.

In one town we stayed in, we saw this tree with eggs on its tips. We don't know why they were there. Dad thinks they may be decorations but I think the Easter Bunny left them behind.

                                              INTERESTING INSECTS AND ANIMALS

We saw a lot of really interesting animals and insects along the way.
Picture
We went to a hummingbird sanctuary where we saw a lot of hummingbirds. I stood really close to them and they didn't seem to mind. We also saw this hummingbird nest with 2 eggs in it. The eggs were really tiny.

This millipede was on our path when we were hiking in Tayrona National Park. He had so many legs. The caterpillars were funny to watch because they kept crawling on top of eachother.

When we were at the beach I collected these baby frogs. I then let them go and helped them get to the pond. I also caught large toads and crabs with my Dad.

These are leaf cutter ants. They bite off pieces of leaves and carry them back to their home. The size of the leaf pieces were sometimes bigger than the ants themselves.

This was another dog I met. These donkeys were so sweet. They were working donkeys, carrying corn and supplies on their backs

                                                 FOSSILS AND DINOSAURS

We went to a museum of dinosaur fossils and also found fossils on one of our walks.
There were road signs near the museum with dinosaurs on them.

Below is the huge Kronosaurus fossil found in this area. Kronosaurus' lived in the ocean. Below is my drawing of a kronosaurus.

These ammonites were in the museum too. Below is a photo of me finding a fossil in the path when we were hiking.

                                                                     CHOCOLATE SHOP

At Villa de Leyva, they had a chocolate shop that had a beautiful statue of a golden girl out the front. I would have liked to try on her dress.

                                                         PLAYING WITH FRIENDS

I met a lot of other kids in Colombia. Inti, and Sammy spoke English and lived at a campsite with goats. I caught toads with them. I also had a sleepover with them in beds in a dome tent. We watched movies together. One of the goats head butted me and the scar is still there. Another time I watched movies with some local girls in a small village.

I love playing in the parks that we find. I skateboarded for the first time on our friend Alex's skateboard. It was kind of hard.
I played a game of sharks in the water with our friends Susanne and Val. We made a sound like, "dant, dant dant dant don".

                                                                  HALLOWEEN

We celebrated Halloween when we were at the beach. My friend Mario made me jack 'o latterns from coconuts. One was a monster and one was a minion. Miranda and I, (my friend) dressed up as fairy princesses and went "trick or treating". We got a lot of yummy candy.

I got a picture as a witch at the local mall. Mum, our friends and I decorated Priscilla with halloween decorations that we made.

                                                       SCHOOL AND ARTWORK

Mum and I do some school work together. Sometimes don't like it, but we get to do school in some cool places. We even got to do it in a painted bus that was a sitting and TV area.
One day at the campsite at the beach, I helped paint a trash girl on the trash bin area.

                                                          MERMAIDS

We made Miranda and I into mermaids, burying us ion the sand and then covering us over and adding rocks for the scales, and coconut shells for bikini tops. It was fun!

My favorite things about Colombia were going to the museums, seeing the statues, playing on the beach and making new friends.

Hi Keira,
Wow what a lot you have done and what a lot of animals you have found. Some of them look a bit tickly like the caterpillars and frogs. The dog looked very friendly. Not sure about the head butting goat though.
Well its nearly Christmas here and the weather is very dark and gloomy. So I am envious of all the sunshine you have. Keep enjoying yourself!

Make sure you keep that barrette, I don't need it anymore. Give your doggie a pat for me. I am going to get a puppy when I get back and then they can be friends.

love you
Merry Christmas

That gold dress is amazing. I wonder if we could make one just like it when you come home. You could wear it next Halloween for your costume and we could put gold face paint on you.

Megan and Connor are getting married in January. You remember them? It's going to be a small wedding at our house with flowers and paper cranes and big bows and Curran is going to do the ceremony for them. COOL! And then afterwards we're celebrating at a tea room with lots of good things to eat. YUM!

Keep collecting those pictures and writing stories. It will help you remember the good times you had there. When you get older, you'll look back at the pictures and it will make you smile and give you a warm fuzzy feeling.

We're so happy that you'll be home soon. And it's so exciting that you're getting a puppy! We all miss you, and Yoyo is looking forward to fetching the ball for you.

Hugs for everyone! Elizabeth, Tom, Curran, Connor, Megan, and all the pups!

Hi Keira, We miss you in Albuquerque! Thanks for writing this blog, James liked the pictures of the millipede and baby frogs! It sounds like you are having a blast and meeting lots of great people. We can't wait to see you again. James just turned 6! He had a little party at Explora, do you remember the Explora museum? We are about to go visit family for the Christmas holiday and James is excited because he gets 3 weeks off from school! Take care and have fun. - Sarah and James

Hey there, sweet Keira!!!

We have been getting caught up on everything you've been up to and cannot believe what a magical, wonderful time you are having.

Thank you so much for sharing your blog.

Jacob and Zoe talk about you all the time. We spend a lot of time starting our conversations with: "I wonder what Keira is doing right now..." or "I wonder what Keira would think of ..." OR we say "I wonder if Keira would like ...." and in that way we pretend that we are with you.

We take Bobby Frapples on walks along the Bosque - and if you get a puppy we can go on walks together.

We miss you!

Hi Keira

You have done so much since we left you but we think you have grown taller too. It must be all that fresh air.

Colombia looks such an exciting place, Phil and I wondered what country, what animal and what food you like best - now.

Jock and Jemima are behaving, its very wet in Scotland so they don't go out much and if Jemima gets a chance she snuggles under the duvet and gives us cuddles.

so lots of cuddles from scotland to you from phil, lesley, jock and jemima xx
